MATISSE is the mid-infrared instrument on the Very Large Telescope Interferometer (ESO Paranal Observatory, Chile), providing an angular resolution of a few milliarcseconds. It can resolve the inner regions of planet forming disks, the dusty tori of active galactic nuclei, the surfaces of giant stars, the circumstellar matter around evolved stars, and obtain spectra of close-in exoplanets.
The MATISSE Science Days aims to bring together the community to review the latest results using the MATISSE instrument, foster collaboration, promote synergies with other instruments, and discuss plans for future development. Confronting interferometric observations with theoretical/numerical models is a special goal of the meeting.
Following the first successful meeting in 2024 in Nice, France, the second instalment of the series will be held in Budapest,
Hungary, organized and hosted by Konkoly VLTI Expertise Centre. The workshop will be held in hybrid format at the headquarters of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in downtown Budapest.
The conference will cover various topics related to high-angular resolution astrophysics both from observational and theoretical perspectives, including:

There is no registration fee for the conference, but the participants are expected to arrange for their own travel and accommodation.
We encourage contributions from PhD students and early-career researchers. If financial assistance is necessary, please indicate that upon registration and abstract submission. Please be advised that limited funds are available and we may not be able to support everyone.
The registration and abstract submission deadline is June 30.
The acceptance of abstracts will be announced by July 21.

Before travelling to Hungary please check whether you need a Visa.
If you need an invitation letter for your Visa application, please contact us as soon as possible.
You can travel to Budapest by plane, by train, and by bus. By plane you arrive to Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport
(Terminal 2). From the airport you can use a taxi, minibus, or public transportation. It is relatively easy to reach the city center by public transport: the 100E bus takes you directly to Deák Ferenc tér where you can take a bus, tram or metro.
By train you will reach the city at one of the train stations (Déli, Nyugati or Keleti) depending on which direction you are coming from. The Hungarian train service company is MÁV. The German train service also includes information on how to travel to Budapest by train.
You can also reach Budapest by bus using Flixbus.
Information on tickets and passes is available here. One can buy single tickets (10 single tickets cost about 12 EUR, keeping in mind that when changing (e.g. bus to metro) you need to validate a new ticket, except for metro connections). Single tickets have to be validated at boarding. Alternatively, 24-hours, 72-hours or weekly passes are also available at any BKK ticket offices and vendor machines around the city or in the BudapestGO app. Please note that if you are a European citizen over 65 years old you are entitled to travel for free on all the Budapest public transport (you will just need to show your ID card to the ticket inspectors).
